Date: Nov. 16, 2023, 1:15 p.m.With the recent re-release of Quake 2 on Steam its a good time to mention Quake Wars. Im sure readers have never heard of the game, it was delisted from Steam some years ago. Its easily up there with Battlefield 2142, albiet outdated visuals and gameplay. There are people hoping that Bethsoft might buy the IP from whoever owns Quake Wars today its the one that got away some might say. Official servers are long gone but through some hacky methods people have managed to rehost. It should also be lannable and possibly over a VPN. You can still find retail packs occasionally on Trademe and Ebay.
An overhaul and update for Quake Wars would go some ways in bringing back whats been lost in pc gaming over the years, it would be a boon to gamers everywhere. Of worthy mention is Quake 4 still a game that holds up today as it uses the Doom 3 engine and modernizing it would be very good as it has alot of bugs and the Doom 3 engine is still capable of making a good game even today. The funny thing is when I Googled "Wainuiomata Discord" I ended up on this page, and AI gave a pretty cooked response.
